To belong to Christ means more than simply believing in Him — it means surrendering to Him.
Paul reminds us that when we give our lives to Jesus, something powerful happens: the old self — ruled by selfish desires, pride, and sin — is put to death.
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh…”
This isn’t always easy. The “flesh” — our human nature that wants control, comfort, and pleasure without limits — doesn’t die quietly. It resists. It whispers. It tempts us to live for ourselves instead of for God.
But belonging to Christ means that we have chosen a new way — the way of the Cross.
Crucifying the Flesh
To crucify the flesh doesn’t mean we never struggle again, but it means we refuse to let sin rule us.It’s a daily decision to say:
“Lord, not my will, but Yours be done.”
Every time we choose forgiveness over bitterness, purity over temptation, humility over pride, we’re living out this truth.
It’s not about perfection — it’s about direction. We’re no longer walking toward sin; we’re walking toward Jesus.
Freedom in Christ
Here’s the beautiful paradox: when we die to the flesh, we finally begin to live.Real freedom doesn’t come from indulging every desire — it comes from being free from those desires that once enslaved us.
In Christ, we don’t just avoid sin; we walk in Spirit-led victory, bearing the fruit of love, joy, peace, and self-control (Galatians 5:22–23).
Prayer:Lord Jesus, thank You for setting me free from the power of sin. Help me daily to crucify the desires that pull me away from You. Fill me with Your Spirit, so that my life reflects Your heart. I belong to You — body, soul, and spirit. Amen.
Takeaway:When you belong to Jesus, the old life ends and a new life begins. The Cross didn’t just save you — it transforms you. ✝️🔥
